New month … New Beginning! Let’s Celebrate YOU!

So, this is the 2nd day of February and the 2nd day of Black History Month. This is the time of year when most people look back at all of the accomplishments of black people and sit in awe of the contributions they have made to propel us all forward. While this is a great time to emphasize to our children what we have done as a people and stress that they too can do anything they put their minds too, we need to take a moment and reflect on an equally important contributor, OURSELVES! Yes, that is right … YOU!

Take a moment to celebrate what you have done over your lifetime. You may not be at the place you saw yourself when you dreamt of your future as a child, but you woke up this morning clothed in your right mind and with the activity of your limbs. So guess what, there is another opportunity for you to reach towards your goals. Let’s turn the page!

Start off today, this beautiful Friday, first, thanking God for allowing you to see this day. Secondly, don’t look back over your life with regrets. You may not have accomplished what you wanted to but you have accomplished so much, and for that, be proud. Third, write down your short and long goals. Remember use S.M.A.R.T Goals …. Make them specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and timely. After you have written them down, write down some plans to help move you closer to them and set small and timely goals. Schedule these dates using Outlook Calendar, personal phone or calendar, of when you would like to achieve these goals. By scheduling these out, it holds you accountable. If you know you are held accountable, you will dedicate more time to completing it. Remember, the best investment you can make is in yourself. If you are not satisfied with you, how can you be of any help to others? We have so many people counting on us but when we feel like we have personally failed, we are not capable of giving anyone or anything our full attention.

Let’s focus on redepositing back into ourselves and stop depleting ourselves. We can no longer allow life to keep making withdrawals and we fail to refuel. Eventually, we will lose momentum and start to decay and God said that He comes that we may have life and have it more abundantly (John 10:10).

Happy Friday!
