Complacency is YOUR ENEMY!
A complacent person is very pleased with themselves or feels that they do not need to do. Complacency is a feeling of quiet pleasure or security, often while unaware of some potential danger, defect, or the like; self-satisfaction or smug satisfaction with an existing situation, condition, etc. The Cambridge Academic Content Dictionary defines “complacency” as “a feeling of calm satisfaction with your own abilities or situation that prevents you from trying harder.
Complacency is dangerous because God does not like complacency. Revelation 3:16 (NIV) reminds us: “So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth".
Do a self-examination and answer the following questions:
Are you far too easily satisfied? Do you accept what you are given/told with no push-back? Are you content with minor achievements?
Are you quick to make excuses as to why you are not growing in your personal, spiritual or professional life?
Is there never enough time for you to accomplish your goals? Yes there is only 24 hours in a day but are you strategic in using your time wisely?
Do you feel like you know everything and not willing to listen to others? Are you resistant to new ideas, new challenges and those tasks that takes you outside of your comfort area?
Are you content with early success? Well, I have achieved this goal so I’m okay …. No, aim higher! Push further!
If you are in a place of complacency in any area of your life, first PRAY about it, SEEK direction and START moving forward!
